When people from Vulcan Real Estate happened to walk by Hornall Anderson's HAX Lab and see a touch-screen-activated transportation map, they knew they had to have it. They were busy building the new Amazon campus at SLU, and needed a way to display public transportation options to Amazon employees. Rather than go for the traditional route-map pamphlet display, they teamed up with us and King County Metro to build something that would match Amazon's high-tech culture.
The result was an interactive transit and amenities map that showed real-time bus stop times and coach locations, along with information about local shops and restaurants.
We created 12 kiosks, and a back-end system that would allow for daily maintenance from a remote location.
