Via6 is a residential and retail building in downtown Seattle built in 2012. The developer asked Hornall Anderson to create an installation in the lobby that would serve as an art piece, a conversational hub, and an informational display. We came up with the Chronograph - a 20 foot tall digital sculpture that scours the web for trending stories, images and keywords, and displays them as a striking, interactive clock.

Each minute the Chronograph gathers trending topics from Twitter, Instagram, and other news sources, and creates an interactive word-cloud on a touch screen. When users touch a word, the relevant Tweet or story is displayed. The most-viewed words are pulled into the clock - vertical strips that represent minutes, hours, and days.

The palette changes based on the season and time of day, resulting in an ever-changing, dynamic visual system that's different every time you view it.
